James Rodríguez's Future Plans in Soccer

James Rodríguez has revolutionized Liga MX with his brilliance on the field, showcasing great touches and vision with the León team. Despite being in good physical shape, the player is already thinking about his retirement and has shared his plans for the future with the fans. In an interview with Edu Aguirre for El Chiringuito, Rodríguez expressed his thoughts on when he would consider his farewell from the pitch.

"I want to play in the 2026 World Cup and see if I continue for one more year or two if my body responds well. After the World Cup, I will decide. My daughter wants me to play until I'm 39. It’s true that my style of play, more focused on touch than on the physical aspect, could allow me to continue. My daughter would be disappointed if I tell her that I'm retiring after the World Cup, so I will think about it,” the Colombian mentioned.

Regarding his future in León, Rodríguez hints at the possibility of staying with the team until the end of his career, as his current contract ends at the end of the year with the option to extend based on his performance. As for his plans once he hangs up his boots, the player ruled out the idea of becoming a coach, preferring to be involved with a team from a managerial position.

"After my retirement, I would love to be an owner or president of a club, but I have no interest in being a coach. I enjoy watching football, but from the outside. I don't think that in three years I will feel attracted to the bench," Rodríguez concluded in the interview.
