The municipal government of León has launched its master mobility plan aiming to reduce travel times and achieve environmental improvements. The projected works are expected to help decrease travel times by up to 25%, which represents a historic investment in infrastructure with the intent of improving quality of life and positioning León as a modern and sustainable city.
Within this plan, the improvement of mobility is highlighted as one of the main action axes. The construction of three new metropolitan parks is planned: El Potrero, La Reserva, and Parque de la Vida, as well as the expansion of the current metropolitan park. The municipality of León communicated that UNESCO recognized the city as the only one in the world that, with its own resources, is working on land regeneration. These works aim to benefit motorists, public transport users, and pedestrians by reducing travel times and improving road safety.
Another important commitment of this administration is the creation of green spaces, with La Reserva park being a notable example for its initiative to recover an old open-air dump and convert it into a large recreational space. Additionally, it is planned to implement four traffic solutions to decongest critical points such as the Aeropuerto Boulevard, where seven major works will be carried out.
Alejandra Gutiérrez, mayor of León, highlighted the historic importance of municipal investment in infrastructure for the city and specifically mentioned the seven works planned in the Aeropuerto Boulevard area to improve traffic flow. Infrastructure projects are also contemplated in the northern, eastern, western, and southern areas of the city, such as the paving of boulevards and the construction of bridges.
