Mexican authorities arrested 20 people linked to a criminal group in the state of Tabasco on Monday, including the organization's leader, identified as Jorge Armando 'N', alias 'El Toto'. The head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, detailed on his social media that the detainee is linked to an attack in Macuspana, Tabasco, on November 8, in which two women lost their lives, as well as other criminal acts. '17 firearms, vehicles, and drugs were secured,' the official pointed out. In a separate statement, the SSPC clarified that after the events of last Saturday, investigations were conducted that made it possible to identify the whereabouts of the aggressors, including Jorge Armando 'N', 'pointed out as the plaza boss of a criminal group operating in the area.' In total, the department reported, 20 people were arrested, including the group leader and four municipal police officers. At the scene, 160 doses of marijuana, 40 doses of methamphetamine, three cars, one pickup truck, two motorcycles, 13 long-barreled firearms, four short-barreled firearms, 50 magazines, 1,688 cartridges, 20 mobile phones, seven ballistic vests, seven tactical helmets, five gram scales, and one video camera were also secured. The operation involved members of the SSPC, the Secretariats of National Defense (Sedena), Navy (Semar), the Attorney General's Office (FGR), National Guard (GN), and the State Attorney General's Office (FGE). From February to early November, the Government of Mexico, thanks to the 'Northern Border Operation' —agreed with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to avoid tariffs on Mexico— arrested more than 8,517 people and confiscated almost 107 tons of drugs, including 494 kilograms of fentanyl.
