Mexico City Traffic Rules: The 'Hoy No Circula' Program

In Mexico City, the 'Hoy No Circula' program is in effect, aimed at reducing pollutant emissions. This measure is standardized for the Metropolitan Area, including Mexico City and the State of Mexico, to limit the circulation of private vehicles regardless of their license plates. On Tuesday, vehicles with a pink sticker, plates ending in 7 and 8, and verification holograms 1 and 2 are not allowed to circulate. Vehicles with holograms 0 and 00, electric and hybrid cars, vehicles driven by healthcare personnel, motorcycles, and cars with disabled license plates can circulate without restrictions. The restrictions are in effect from 05:00 to 22:00 hours. Violating the program rules can result in a fine ranging from 2,775 to 3,112 Mexican pesos. The only day when the program does not apply to any vehicle is Sunday. You might also be interested in > Do you ride a motorcycle?
