The Mexico City Suburban Train (Tren Suburbano) has announced a fare increase that will take effect on Sunday, April 5, 2026. This adjustment will apply to all stations in the system.
Short trips (from 0 to 12.89 km) will increase from 11 to 11.50 Mexican pesos. Long routes (from 12.9 to 25.59 km) will rise from 25.50 to 26.50 pesos. Thus, a short trip will cost an additional 50 centavos, while a long trip will cost one peso more.
The concessionaire explained that this increase was authorized and registered by the Railway Transport Regulatory Agency of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport and published in the Official Gazette of the Federation. This change complies with the terms of the Concession Title.
It is worth recalling that in April 2025, fares were also raised. At that time, the short trip fare increased from 10.50 to 11 pesos, and the long trip fare went up from 24.50 to 25.50 pesos. Additionally, the cost of the access card increased from 16 to 18 pesos.
The Suburban Train, which connects Mexico City with municipalities in the State of Mexico, is used daily by thousands of users who work and study in the capital. The fare continues to depend on the distance traveled, a scheme the system has maintained since its inception.
