Fare increases on the Suburban Train in Mexico City have sparked dissatisfaction among users, questioning both the frequency of hikes and service quality. Short trips (0-12.89 km) now cost 11.50 pesos, and long trips (12.9-25.59 km) cost 26.50 pesos, following a pattern of annual increases.
Since its launch in 2008, the fare has consistently risen, starting at 8 pesos for short and 18 for long trips. This trend has persisted for nearly two decades, fueling public debate.
On social media, users have expressed their frustration. One commented, "State transport fares go up every 3 or 4 years, but the Suburban Train raises them annually." Another criticized, "Every year, fares go up and service quality drops.
There are also complaints about operational failures: "They raise prices whenever they want. No Wi-Fi, broken escalators, delays, and they don't even stick to schedules."
