
The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) closed with a decline of 0.38% in its main indicator, standing at 50,553.31 units, accumulating five sessions in the negative and a drop of 3.5%. According to Gabriela Siller, director of Economic and Financial Analysis at Banco Base, there were mixed results among the main global stock indices.
The Price and Quotation Index (IPC) of the BMV ended the session with a loss of 0.38%, marking its lowest level since November 1, 2023. Among the companies that reported losses are Walmex with a decrease of 2.32%, Femsa (-2.1%), América Móvil (-1.78%), Industrias Peñoles (-1.9%) and Coca-Cola Femsa (-1.73%).
Enrique Covarrubias, director of Economic Analysis at Actinver Financial Group, mentioned that the IPC of the BMV fell by 0.4%, standing at 50,553 units, following the negative trend of the U.S. markets and accumulating a loss of 11.9% so far this year. On the other hand, the Mexican peso appreciated by 0.4% against the dollar, trading at 20.43 units per greenback.
Regarding the movements of companies on the BMV, the airline Volaris led the gains with 5.1%, followed by telecommunications firm Axtel with 4.35% and chemical products distributor Grupo Pochteca with 3.66%. In contrast, the largest declines were recorded by mining company Frisco with -7.47%, Value Grupo Financiero with -5.26%, and housing construction company Corpovael with -3.85%.
In summary, the Mexican Stock Exchange closed the session with a declining index, reflecting a mixed global context and several important companies experiencing significant losses in their stocks.
