Blues Festival in Mexico City: A Musical Tribute

A series of blues events and tributes are scheduled in Mexico City, including a concert in homage to Javier Bátiz and performances from various bands throughout February.

The Alicia Cultural Multiforo, located in the Santa María la Ribera neighborhood of Mexico City, will be the venue for a tribute, concert, and talk dedicated to Javier Bátiz, who passed away last December. The event will take place on Friday, January 31, at 19:08.

On Saturday, at 17:00, Stormy Monday, a band with 15 years of experience in Mexican blues, will perform at Bar Hobos in San Ángel. The group, led by Josafat Cuevas on guitar, will feature Ale Guerrero on harmonica and vocals, Gustavo "Pantera" Rivera on drums, and Roberto Vargas Escutia on bass.

On Wednesday the 19th, the second part of a work highlighting the blues scene in Mexico will be screened, featuring Sirena Blues, Diableros, and Horacio Reni. The documentary showcases the work of nine relevant bands in the genre.

The future intention is to continue recording bands to create a collection that showcases the musical work of the blues community in Mexico. The complete documentary, lasting over 120 minutes, will be presented on Wednesday, February 5, at Bar Hobos.

In other blues events, the album "In Search of the Spiritual Path," which includes 14 songs, will be presented by Paco Memo Serratos on the same February 5.

The San Miguel de Allende Blues Festival will feature bands such as Arroyo Jaymes, Sunset Blues, and The Last Chance. Additionally, the single "Viento Viajero" by Lobo Mexicano has been released for online broadcasting.
