Cable Car Line 3 Suspended Due to Storm

Line 3 of the Cablebús in Mexico City stopped operating on the afternoon of Sunday, February 2, due to an electrical storm in the western part of the capital. Users traveling from Los Pinos to Vasco de Quiroga were evacuated due to the rains, and it is expected that service will resume once weather conditions improve. For now, it is unknown if affected users were compensated with other means of transportation.

Line 3 of the Cablebús, the most recently inaugurated in September, was affected by the rains, causing the temporary closure of several stations such as Los Pinos / Constituyentes, Panteón de Dolores, Charrerías, Parcur / Colegio de Arquitectos, Cineteca Chapultepec / Bodega de Arte, and Vasco de Quiroga. However, Lines 1 and 2 of the Cablebús are operating normally at the moment, without reporting any issues.

The electrical storm also affected several municipalities in the center and west of Mexico City, according to the Secretariat of Risk Management and Civil Protection. They recommend taking precautions and staying alert to official announcements. The municipalities most impacted by the rains are Álvaro Obregón, Benito Juárez, Cuajimalpa, Magdalena Contreras, Miguel Hidalgo, Tlalpan, and Milpa Alta.

The intense rains also caused flooding on the Periférico in Mexico City, complicating traffic flow. Puddles are reported between Periférico and Doctor González Herrejón in the Lomas de Plateros neighborhood, as well as at the intersection with Barranca del Muerto near the Merced Gómez neighborhood in Álvaro Obregón. Emergency services are working in the area to resolve the problems caused by the flooding.
