In the first edition of the Reciclatrón, organized by the Environmental Secretariat (Sedema) of Mexico City, 71 tons of electronic waste were collected, thus setting a historical record for the program. The waste collection took place at the Universum museum, Ciudad Universitaria, where 68 tons of electronic waste and three tons of batteries were gathered, surpassing the previous record set in 2018, also at UNAM, with 59 tons.

Clara Brugada, head of Government of Mexico City, emphasized the relevance of the Reciclatrón to prevent electronic devices from contaminating the environment. "This initiative allows citizens to responsibly dispose of electronic devices, preventing them from ending up in places where they could generate pollution. The Reciclatrón is a key strategy to transform and recycle these materials, contributing to the conservation of the environment."

Julia Álvarez Icaza, Secretary of the Environment, expressed her gratitude to the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the individuals who participated in the event. She highlighted the massive participation during the event, with long waiting lines of up to three hours to properly deposit the waste. The next edition of the Reciclatrón is scheduled for February 7 and 8 at the Higher School of Physical Education (ESEF) in the Iztacalco municipality.

More than five thousand people participated in the inaugural edition of the Reciclatrón, supported by 93 companies and institutions. Among the electronic items collected were cables, monitors, printers, televisions, laptops, cell phones, and other discarded devices.
