The Head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, made important announcements in favor of sports and recreation in the city. Among them, the creation of the Secretariat of Sports and Recreation, the organization of the first edition of the Utopia Race 2025, and the broadcast of the route in 17 countries, led by Claro Sports.
Regarding the Utopia Race 2025, it was announced that it will have a distance of eight kilometers, starting from Iztapalapa and finishing at the Utopia of Children in Magdalena Mixhuca. The participation of 15,000 runners is expected and registrations will be open for free from February 7 through the page of the Sports Institute. The event aims to promote the 100 utopias that Brugada's government hopes to deliver by the end of the administration.
Jesús Peralta Pérez, director of the local Sports Institute, presented the official shirt of the race, which is wine-colored on the torso and combines purple with pink on the sleeves. Regarding the medals, it was revealed that each one will include a letter corresponding to each edition of the annual races of the administration, to form the word 'utopias'. Each letter represents a different value, such as social unity, urban transformation, community organization, citizen participation, social inclusion, and social harmony.
Additionally, the actions leading up to the CDMX Half Marathon and Marathon were detailed, which participants will experience, including the closing of registrations, official training, marathon ride, Adidas splits, presentation of official shirts and medals, exhibitions of marathons, and the Marathon Forum.
Clara Brugada highlighted the importance of sports as a universal language and a powerful tool to build peace, connect social ties, and promote the well-being of the community. At the press conference prior to the Mexico City Marathon, the Head of Government acknowledged the positive impact of sports on the lives of Mexican citizens and the international projection of the country since 1983.
