In the framework of the announcement of the route for the Mexico City Half Marathon, Clara Brugada informed about the realization of the ‘Unstoppable Mexico’ Race, which will take place on August 16. This race has a particular nuance, as the head of the Government of Mexico City will summon indigenous runners from across the country. Lorena Ramírez, a Rarámuri runner, will be the ambassador for this event, which is about inclusion and the pride of indigenous athletes.
This year's Half Marathon, whose motto is 'For a Life Free of Violence', will be held on July 13. The distance to be covered by the competitors is 21.97 kilometers. According to Clara Brugada, this event positions the capital of the Republic as an important benchmark in sports, as sports is a powerful tool to create peace and well-being.
The race rules indicate the participation of 30 thousand runners. The starting point will be located at the Caballito Tower, advancing through Paseo de la Reforma and Chapultepec Forest, ending at the Angel of Independence roundabout. Brugada Molina mentioned that marathons are increasingly more inclusive and that Mexico City is a must-visit for international-level athletes in athletics and other competitions.
The starting time is scheduled for 5:45 AM, beginning with participants in wheelchairs and visual impairments. An hour later, female runners and other categories will take their place. The prizes for the winners include 50 thousand pesos for first place, 35 thousand pesos for second, 20 thousand pesos for third, 10 thousand pesos for fourth, and 5 thousand pesos for fifth. The rest of the winners in the special categories will receive a Garmin watch as a prize.
