On February 2, 2025, Paseo de la Reforma witnessed the second edition of the Fundación Cáncer Warriors of Mexico Race, which brought together more than 2,500 runners and walkers in commemoration of World Cancer Day. During the event, the participation of various ambassadors of the foundation was highlighted, as well as the winners in the women's and men's categories of the 10 km race.
In the women's category of the 10 km race, the top spots went to Adahia Martínez López, Elizabeth Aguilar Jiménez, and Susana Torres Lozano, while in the men's category, Armando Ramírez Cano, Roberto Saavedra de León, and Roger Romero Barrera stood out. Additionally, recognitions were given to ambassadors and sponsors of the event, which included a message of hope from Kenji López, president of the Fundación Cáncer Warriors of Mexico.
The event began at 07:00 hours with a starting shot, starting a day dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of early diagnosis and access to treatments for those facing cancer. Augusto Muench, General Director of Boehringer Mexico, shared his personal testimony and emphasized the foundation's work in the fight against this disease.
In the 5 km category, the first places for women went to Sofía Sánchez García, Josefina Gómez Romero, and Alondra Martínez Olvera, while in the men's category, Christian Eduardo Cruz, Enrique Cruz Ramírez, and Jonathan Reyes Sánchez stood out. Participants highlighted the importance of events like this to raise awareness and support those facing cancer.
The award ceremony was one of the most emotional moments, where the top three overall places in both distances were recognized. Additionally, thanks were given to the media for their support in spreading the cause. Every step taken during the race was a reminder of the importance of coming together to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families, as expressed by a mother whose daughter is a survivor of pediatric cancer.
