The federal government ensured that it will continue to invest in the Metro of Mexico City with the necessary resources to renew and transform the existing lines. It is expected that work on Line 12 will be completed and support will be provided for Line A, which runs through Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza. Juan Pablo de Botton, head of Finance, indicated that the Mexican capital has the necessary funds to carry out works on Line 1 and continue developing the transportation system.
For the year 2025, a historic budget of 23 billion pesos will be allocated to the Metro. This amount will guarantee the completion of Line 1, the modernization of escalators and elevators, and the conduct of studies for the renovation of Line 3. The head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, reported on the progress in the remodeling of Line 1 and announced the reopening of several stations in March.
Clara Brugada emphasized the importance of carrying out works that ensure safety for the millions of Metro users. Regarding other lines, the Secretary of Mobility, Héctor Ulises García Nieto, mentioned that the results of the works carried out in recent months will soon be seen, while studies for the renovation of Line 3 will begin next year. The government continues with its development plans in public transport.
During an inspection of the works on Line 1, the head of Government, along with the secretaries of Mobility and Finance, oversaw the progress of one of the most relevant projects in the capital. It is expected that, in the short term, Line 1 will reach Chapultepec and later extend to Tacubaya. The company CRRC, responsible for the project, has generated certain delays that have caused concern among officials.
It is highlighted that the Metro is essential for mobility in Mexico City. Despite the inconveniences, the opening of the first section of Line 1 has been confirmed, which will have a fleet of 35 trains, including 20 new ones. Two cameras will also be installed per car connected to the central government's monitoring system.
