The popular Mexican singer Paquita la del Barrio has been farewell with emotion and affection by dozens of people who gathered to say their last goodbye and sing her songs as her funeral carriage traveled through the streets. The singer's sister, Viola Dorantes, expressed her unconditional support for Paquita, stating: "I supported her, I was with her day and night. Being together is the most valuable thing we could have."
The funeral procession departed from a funeral home in the Juárez neighborhood, making a stop at the iconic Plaza Garibaldi before arriving at Casa Paquita, in the Guerrero neighborhood, where the artist's admirers gathered to honor her memory with applause and mariachi music. Cheers were heard and the song "Amor eterno" was sung in her honor.
The ashes of Paquita la del Barrio were transported in a butterfly-shaped urn, carried in the same funeral carriage that once transported artists like Silvia Pinal and José José. During the journey along Paseo de la Reforma, prominent figures such as singer Alejandro Sanz and the mayor of Cuauhtémoc, Alessandra Rojo de la Vega, joined the procession in an emotional tribute.
"Thank you, Paquita, you are part of eternal culture," expressed Alejandro Sanz on his social media, while the mariachi musicians and local residents joined to pay tribute to the iconic performer. Former mayor Sandra Cuevas was also present at the mass held in honor of Paquita la del Barrio, remembering her legacy and her impact on Mexican music.
