Closure of Eje Central for the UTOPÍAS Race

On March 2, Mexico City faced road closures on Eje Central due to the UTOPÍAS race organized for over 15,000 participants. Alternate routes include Eje 4 Sur and lateral lanes.

Closure of Eje Central for the UTOPÍAS Race

Dozens of motorists were surprised on Sunday in Mexico City (CDMX) when they found Eje Central Avenue closed. The reason for this closure was the UTOPÍAS Race (Units of Transformation and Organization for Inclusion and Social Harmony), which started on March 2 at 07:30 AM, with the start in front of the SCOP Center in Xola, Narvarte Poniente neighborhood, and the finish line in Magdalena Mixihuca.

The competition covered a distance of eight kilometers and had the participation of at least 15,000 people, which led to the closure of traffic on Eje Central and Viaducto Río de la Piedad towards the east. In light of this situation, the Traffic Orientation Center (Ovial) of the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) of CDMX suggests using Eje 4 Sur and the lateral lanes as alternative routes.

In Ovial's words: '#TrafficPrecaution | The traffic on Viaducto Río de la Piedad remains closed to the east between Eje Central and Av. #AlternativeRoute Eje 4 Sur and lateral lanes'. It's important to remember that access to Río Churubusco also remained closed due to a sporting event in the area.
