The 21st edition of the Carrera Bonafont held this Sunday in Mexico City brought together 20,000 women in an event dedicated to promoting equality and women's empowerment. According to Silvia Dávila, president of LATAM and General Director of Danone Mexico, the race has become a benchmark for overcoming, unity, and pride for thousands of participants over its 21 years of existence.
The event featured participants of various ages and levels of experience, with some competing for the first time and others celebrating consecutive years of being part of this transformative experience. In the main category, Litzy Yoali Báez Gil took first place with a time of 18 minutes and 14 seconds, followed by Sonia Laguna López and Adahia Martínez López. Each winner received as a prize a flight certificate from Aeroméxico, with destinations to Colombia for the first, the United States for the second, and a domestic flight for the third.
The festive atmosphere was present throughout the event, with cheers, music, and smiles, and included the presence of authorities such as Manola Zabalza Aldama, Secretary of Economic Development of CDMX. Moni Pizani Orsini, Representative of UN Women in Mexico, highlighted the collaboration of UN Women, Danone, and Bonafont over eight years in favor of gender equality and women's empowerment.
The official race shirt, made from recycled material by Reebok, symbolized the commitment to sustainability and the alliance with UN Women reaffirmed the purpose of inspiring women to move towards a more equal future. The Carrera Bonafont will continue its journey with more dates throughout the year, culminating on April 6 in Querétaro, with the goal of motivating more women to continue advancing together towards their personal goals.
