The renowned singer Lupita D'Alessio will offer a free concert in the Zócalo of Mexico City to celebrate Mother's Day 2025. Despite previous doubts due to health issues that led her to cancel commitments, the presentation has been confirmed by the Culture Secretary of CDMX for Saturday, May 10th at 7:00 PM.
With more than 30 recorded albums, Lupita D'Alessio, nicknamed 'The Sleeping Lion' for her emotional performances, has remained relevant at 71 years old. The singer expressed her excitement for the event, stating that it is a pleasure to sing on such a special date in the Plaza de la Constitución of the Mexican capital.
During the concert, chairs will be provided for the comfort of the audience, and a full house is expected. Ana Francis López, Culture Secretary of CDMX, noted that during 'The Sleeping Lion's' farewell tour, attendees will enjoy the artist's greatest hits, who has influenced generations with her talent in Spanish ballads and pop.
The concert will be broadcast live on Capital 21 and Canal 14 for those unable to attend the Zócalo. Additionally, various mayoralties in Mexico City will offer musical performances and cultural activities during the Mother's Day celebration.
Other events include a concert by the Philharmonic, a special performance by singer Victoria Hana, a photographic exhibition by Greta Rico on Paseo de la Reforma, and a presentation at the San Fernando Pantheon Museum about motherhood in 19th-century Mexico.
