The FIFA World Cup Trophy Set to Arrive in Mexico City

The Government of Mexico City revealed that the trophy of the 2026 World Cup will arrive in the capital of the country between February and June 2026, before the tournament begins. The head of government of CDMX, Clara Brugada, announced this news during the presentation of the project "World City".

The trophy will be exhibited in the Zócalo of Mexico City, but it will also tour the city with various planned activities in each of the 16 boroughs. Although the dates for visiting Guadalajara and Monterrey have not yet been detailed, it is expected to be during a similar period as in the capital.

During the presentation, it was announced that there will be works and special events before and during the World Cup, including the creation of a new trolleybus line that will connect the University Metro with Huipulco, as well as the Centrobús, a tour of the Historic Center on electric buses. In addition, the FIFA Fan Festival will be set up in the capital's Zócalo, with live broadcasts of the matches, sports areas, hospitality areas, concerts, and an exhibition of ball games.

The 2026 World Cup will begin on June 11 at the Azteca Stadium, which will host the opening match and two more group stage games, one of the round of 16, and another of the quarter-finals.
