Metro Line B Resumes Operations After Repairs

Line B of the Mexico City Metro resumed operations on Thursday, May 8, after completing inspection and repair work on the track section between the Deportivo Oceanía and Bosque de Aragón stations, which had been closed since the afternoon of Wednesday, May 7. Metro authorities reported that an investigation is underway to determine the exact causes of the track displacement.

The new Metro General Director, Adrián Rubalcava, stated that the work was completed around 4:40 a.m. and that service has been operating normally since the reopening at 5:00 a.m. The service suspension was due to a failure in the track system, specifically a displacement in the guide rail that affected the geometry of the mentioned section. To correct the situation, adjustments were made using hydraulic equipment, removal of ballast, and replacement of sleepers.

During the interruption, the Metro operated provisionally between Buenavista and Oceanía, as well as between Villa de Aragón and Ciudad Azteca. To support affected passengers, a free RTP bus service was implemented between the Oceanía and Villa de Aragón stations.
