The Mexico City International Airport (AICM) announced the opening of a parking lot located at the GNP Seguros Stadium, due to maintenance work at the airfield. In a press release, AICM informed that passengers will be transported to the airport for free, with a pickup point from the makeshift parking lot, which will cost 40 pesos per hour and a maximum of 350 pesos per day. The travel time between AICM and the venue, where most concerts are held, is between 3 to 4 kilometers. The airport also emphasized that this alternative is designed to provide a solution for users and avoid traffic congestion near Benito Juárez Airport. The parking lot began operating this Thursday, January 29, and will remain active “until further notice,” according to AICM, which detailed that the airport's current parking lots are at full capacity. Users can use the parking lot located at gate six of the GNP Stadium, in the Magdalena Mixihuaca Sports City, where their vehicle will be secure, and from there they will be transferred to the airport at no cost. AICM stated in the document that it will make vehicles available at the GNP Stadium for free so that a user with a scheduled flight can be transported after parking their car, in order to avoid delays and facilitate their timely arrival at the terminals. The arrival and departure area will be at the Terminal 2 Bus Bay, where the aerotrain and inter-terminal shuttles will also be available for free, without the need for a boarding pass to move to Terminal 1 and vice versa. The transport units in charge of this service are properly marked with the institutional image of the Grupo Aeroportuario Marina and will serve the demand 24 hours a day, until the completion of the renovation work. Finally, AICM reminded passengers that they must arrive at the airport terminals two hours in advance for a domestic flight and three hours for an international flight.
