On Saturday, March 21, 2026, two incidents occurred in Mexico City that drew public attention. In the Roma neighborhood, Cuauhtémoc borough, a fire broke out in a seven-story building. The fire originated inside an apartment on the 7th floor at the corner of Querétaro and Jalapa streets. Firefighters rushed to the scene to extinguish the blaze and carry out evacuation efforts. Approximately 25 people were evacuated from the building, with no reports of injuries. During the rescue operations, firefighters saved a dog that was in the affected apartment. In a separate incident, also in the Cuauhtémoc borough, two men on a motorcycle attacked two elderly women on San Marcos Street. As a result of the attack, a 63-year-old woman was killed at the scene, while her 73-year-old companion was injured and taken to a hospital for specialized medical care. The Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) is investigating the incident, reviewing surveillance camera footage, and searching for the attackers.
