Mexico City Government Deploys Special Operation for Mexico vs. Portugal Match

The Government of Mexico City will deploy a special verification operation in the vicinity of the Azteca Stadium, in the Coyoacán municipality, for the friendly match between the Mexico and Portugal national teams, scheduled for Saturday, March 28, at 19:00. The Administrative Verification Institute (INVEA) reported that the operation will begin on Friday, March 27, and will remain in effect for a day after the match, as part of permanent actions on security and public order. The strategy includes a focus on raising awareness among commercial establishment owners, with the aim of promoting compliance with current regulations. However, the authority warned that in case of non-compliance, specialized personnel will proceed to place activity suspension seals. What does the operation consist of? Among the main actions of the operation are the prohibition of alcohol sales to minors, the ban on selling alcoholic beverages in open containers—particularly in grocery stores and supermarkets—and the supervision of compliance with established hours. Likewise, it will be monitored that establishments operate in accordance with the law and do not promote behaviors that alter public order or generate disturbances in the area. The capital government, headed by Head of Government Clara Brugada, urged merchants to abide by legal provisions to avoid administrative sanctions and contribute to guaranteeing the safety of attendees and neighbors during the sporting event.
