Cannabis collectives lead mobilizations in Mexico City

Mexico City registers this Thursday, April 2, various social mobilizations, mainly led by cannabis collectives that will carry out activities in the Cuauhtémoc mayor's office, as well as rallies and rides that could generate traffic impacts at different points in the capital. According to the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) agenda, protests will be concentrated in areas of the Historic Center and main avenues, so motorists are advised to take precautions and anticipate their trips. Cannabis collectives lead the mobilizations. Among the main rallies, the one by the collective "Hijas de la Cannabis" stands out, which will meet at 12:00 hours at Tlaxcoaque Square and later at the Juárez Hemicycle. Their first concentration will be at 12:00 at the Monument to the Mother, and later they will move to the vicinity of Río Churubusco and Añil, in Iztacalco. This collective will set up informational tables and hold workshops focused on risk reduction, in addition to reiterating their demands for free consumption, self-cultivation, and regulated spaces for cannabis users. Rallies and rides will also affect roadways. In addition to the protests, motorcycle and bicycle rides are planned that could affect circulation during the day. One of these contingents will depart from the Agrícola Pantitlán area towards different points yet to be defined, while another group will leave from Calzada de la Viga heading to the south of the city. A bicycle ride is also contemplated, starting from the Caballito de Reforma towards the State of Mexico, which could impact avenues like Paseo de la Reforma from early hours. Given this scenario, capital authorities recommend staying informed through official channels, using alternative routes, and considering the use of public transport to avoid setbacks. Their activity is focused on collecting toys for girls and boys in vulnerable situations, on the occasion of Children's Day. In parallel, the "Platform 4:20" will also be present in the capital with political-cultural activities.

Complications in Mexico City Metro on Several Lines

Since the service launch this Thursday, April 2, the Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro of Mexico City has presented complications on at least three lines, where users report delays, stopped trains, and saturated stations. Through social networks, passengers denounced that Line 12 operates with severe failures, pointing out that there are no trains available and that the platforms are completely full, even though it is not a school day for many students. “This is how things are on L12, no trains and the platforms are packed,” wrote a user, evidencing the level of saturation from the early hours of the day. Line 2 and 9 also present saturation. The situation is not exclusive to Line 12. On Line 2, users alerted about long waiting times and accumulation of people at stations, which complicates boarding the trains. “Line 2 is super stopped, there are a lot of people and they keep accumulating,” noted another passenger on social networks. In turn, Line 9 also records high attendance, particularly at stations like Puebla, where users asked the authorities to improve the frequency of train passage due to the large number of people. Metro CDMX responds: “circulation is being expedited”. Faced with the reports, the official Metro CDMX account reported that they are working to expedite the circulation of trains on the affected lines, especially on Lines 2, 9 and 12. In addition, the body made a call to users to allow the free closing of doors, to descend before entering the cars, and to use emergency levers only if necessary. Despite these warnings, citizen reports continue to point out delays and saturation, which reflects a complicated start of the day for thousands of capital residents who depend on the Metro to get around.
