Significant Delays on Mexico City Metro

Mexico City Metro users reported significant delays and overcrowding on Lines A, 3, and 7 Monday morning. The cause was train inspections and high passenger volume, causing passenger dissatisfaction.

Significant Delays on Mexico City Metro

Users of the Collective Transport System (STC) Metro reported significant delays, overcrowding, and long waits on at least three lines of the network this Monday morning, causing widespread discomfort among passengers. According to testimonies shared on social media, the issues are mainly concentrated on Lines A, 3, and 7, where waiting times exceed 10 and even 15 minutes, causing crowds on platforms and at access points. Delays due to train inspections and high passenger volume. The STC Metro itself reported that the delays on Line 3 are due to the inspection of a train, which temporarily forced a reduction in service speed. “Train movement on Line 3 is being expedited after an inspection of a train,” the Metro's official account stated, also asking users to allow the doors to close freely and to disembark before boarding the cars. However, passengers indicated that the issues persist. At stations like Indios Verdes and Potrero, users reported waits of over 10 minutes, as well as completely saturated trains. On Line 7, the Metro also confirmed the removal of a train for inspection, which impacted circulation and caused slow progress along the line. Line A is also experiencing overcrowding. Meanwhile, Line A is experiencing high passenger volume, especially at terminals, where users reported difficulties even entering the stations after waiting for more than 15 minutes. The STC explained that they are working to expedite the departure of trains from terminals, although demand continues to exceed the service's capacity during peak hours. Authorities reiterated their call for users to follow the staff's instructions, avoid obstructing door closures, and use emergency levers responsibly.
