Mega Water Leak Floods Streets in Mexico City

A major water leak in Álvaro Obregón, one of Mexico City's boroughs, turned streets into a waterfall. Residents of Heliotropos and Mercadel streets interrupted their activities upon hearing the water rush. Thousands of liters of water flooded the Torres de Potrero neighborhood due to the leak. Authorities were called to help stop the water flow while the problem was identified and solved. The leak is reported to be 90% under control, but a technical assessment is underway to determine the cause. At least 12 homes and 2 vehicles were damaged. Affected families report losing furniture, appliances, and other valuable items. The borough's Civil Protection department is inspecting damaged homes to rule out possible structural damage. If a structural failure is detected, the families will be alerted. An emergency shelter will be set up or families will be relocated to a nearby area while the issue is resolved. Military elements have been deployed to carry out cleanup tasks and assist affected families. So far, no injuries have been reported. Authorities are coordinating with the heads of the Water Management and Risk Management and Civil Protection Secretariats to directly assist the affected families.
