What was promised to be their dream home in one of Mexico City's most exclusive areas has turned into an epic legal battle. Well-known actors Daniel Elbittar and Sabrina Seara have shocked the entertainment world and real estate sector by filing a criminal fraud complaint against businessman Gustavo Felipe Tomé Velázquez. The couple acquired an apartment in the Torre Mistral development on Avenida Santa Fe in 2014, paying over 4.3 million pesos. To make matters worse, the apartment delivered is smaller than agreed upon in the contract and lacks the promised luxury amenities. This scandal is just beginning. "Our intention is for the facts to be clarified," stated the actors' legal team, who do not rule out that more victims may join the lawsuit as the Prosecutor's Office investigation progresses. Despite having paid for the property a decade ago, the developer Desarrollos Sustentables Santa Fe has still not delivered the property deeds, leaving their assets in a legal limbo. The controversy doesn't end on paper. Elbittar and Seara denounce deplorable conditions in the building: from constant elevator failures forcing residents to climb up to 20 floors via the stairs, to power outages due to alleged non-payment by the administration, even though condominium owners cover their fees. As the case unfolds, the reputation of Gustavo Tomé and his company hangs by a thread due to these serious accusations of real estate fraud and property crimes.
