Man Detained for Stealing Clown Mask in Mexico City

In Mexico City (CDMX), during the celebration of Halloween and Day of the Dead, a man was arrested by the police after stealing a clown mask from a semi-fixed stand dedicated to the sale of costumes in the Venustiano Carranza borough.

According to reports from the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC), the theft took place near the La Merced Market when the individual took the mask and physically and verbally assaulted the owner of the stand. The incident was reported by the North Command and Control Center to the officers patrolling the Merced Balbuena neighborhood.

Upon arrival, the agents found the woman owner of the stand, who reported the theft and the assault suffered. The clown mask, which had been recovered by individuals who detained the thief, was made of white vinyl. After a police review, the legality of the acquisition of the stolen object by the 36-year-old man could not be verified, so he was arrested, informed of his constitutional rights, and made available to the Public Prosecutor's Office along with the evidence.

This incident highlights how the enthusiasm for obtaining creative costumes during these festivities can lead to inappropriate behaviors. It is important to remember that creativity must be framed within legality to avoid harming others, even during festive celebrations.
