The Metro Dog Transfer Center is a shelter that began operations in July 2017 in Mexico City, under the Animal Protection Law. Since then, several dogs rescued from the subway tracks have been welcomed into this center.
The rescued dogs are taken to the shelter after being saved by transportation workers and receive veterinary care for injuries suffered on the electrified tracks. Although the exact number is unknown, it is estimated that there are currently around 53 dogs available for adoption at the shelter.
These rescued dogs have gone through a socialization process with other pets to facilitate their integration into a new home. Some of the dogs available for adoption include Lalo, a 4-year-old male dog, and Reyes, one of the oldest dogs at the shelter. There is also Pantaleón, a young 3-year-old male dog who gets along well with other dogs and pets.
The Metro shelter is located at Av. de las Culturas, El Rosario, Azcapotzalco, Mexico City, where these rescued dogs from the subway tracks can be adopted. The dogs are provided sterilized and ready to be part of a new home. All the dogs available at the Dog Transfer Center come in various ages, breeds, and sizes. For example, Dorado, a cheerful 9-year-old large dog, is another of the animals available for adoption.
