Street Closures in CDMX for the Celebration of San Judas Tadeo

The annual celebration of San Judas Tadeo will gather hundreds of faithful at the vicinity of the Church of San Hipólito and San Casiano, located in the Centro neighborhood of Mexico City this Monday, October 28. This celebration is of great importance to Catholics, as San Judas Tadeo is one of the most revered saints. It is expected that the influx of parishioners will result in road closures, including Metrobus stations in the central area of the capital.

The oldest image of San Judas Tadeo, also known as the "patron of difficult causes," is located in the San Hipólito temple, where the commemoration is held every year. In 1955, the sculpture of San Judas arrived at the temple, but it was from 1982, when it was moved to the main altar, that its popularity began to grow.

The Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City deployed a security and traffic control operation around the temple to ensure the safety of attendees. It is anticipated that the closure of roads such as Av. Hidalgo and the lateral of Paseo de la Reforma to the South, as well as Metrobus stations, will affect traffic in the area during the festival.

In light of this situation, the Center for Traffic Orientation (OVIAL) has suggested alternative routes to drivers circulating near the Church of San Hipólito. Alternative routes include Avenida de los Insurgentes, Eje 1 Norte, José María Izazaga, Avenida Chapultepec, and Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas, to plan the journey in advance and avoid setbacks. It is important to check the available routes and consider possible detours to arrive on time at the desired destinations.
