Surveillance Operation for the Day of the Dead in CDMX

The celebration of Día de Muertos in Mexico City will have a special surveillance and mobility operation organized by the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC). This operation will take place in the cemeteries and altars of the capital, where thousands of people are expected to attend to enjoy this tradition.

The deployment of surveillance and mobility will be in charge of 18,401 officers supported by 3,024 official vehicles, motorcycles, ambulances, and a helicopter from the Condors Squadron. The SSC will be monitoring any incident that poses a risk to safety and public order. They will also be attentive to emergencies that require medical attention or informational support.

The main objective of the operation is to ensure the safety of attendees at the cemeteries and altars, as well as to prevent incidents in markets and street fairs. Visitors are advised to take care of their belongings and be attentive to children and elderly adults present. In case assistance is needed, it can be requested through 911.

Regarding traffic, the Undersecretary of Traffic Control will coordinate actions to avoid prohibited parking, double parking, and the improper use of sidewalks for parking vehicles. Vehicle circulation will be supervised, and respect for pedestrian crossings will be ensured.

The cemeteries in Mexico City are distributed across different boroughs, totaling 120 throughout the metropolis. These places will be key points for the celebration of Día de Muertos, so police presence and security measures will be reinforced at each of them.
