One of the most traditional popular songs related to the Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico is 'Ay de mí, llorona, llorona,' performed by various artists, including Ángela Aguilar. In addition to the music, there is a tradition of bringing cempasúchil flowers to the cemetery and enjoying the Mega parade in Mexico City, where you can see catrinas, representations of Mesoamerican inhabitants with drums and headdresses, as well as skulls.
The Mega Day of the Dead parade 2024 did not issue a call from the Ministry of Culture of CDMX as in previous editions, but the community can attend the event. The head of government of the capital, Clara Brugada, revealed details of the parade, highlighting the importance of honoring the dead with joy and passion, both at home and in Mexico City. The parade is scheduled for November 2, starting at 2:00 PM.
The parade route spans 8 kilometers, starting at the Lion's Gate in Chapultepec and ending at the Zócalo of Mexico City. For the 2024 edition, the invited state to the Mega Day of the Dead parade is Oaxaca, confirmed by the state administration on its social media.
