Celebrating 40 Years of Tetris with Polígono Festival

The classic video game Tetris, created in 1984 by Russian mathematician Alexey Pajitnov, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. To commemorate this special date, the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) has organized the Gamer Festival 'Polygon: the Foundation of Video Games.'

This event, free and open to the public, will bring together the gaming community to enjoy various activities, including a Tetris Tournament, specialized conferences, a Virtual Reality (VR) zone, film screenings, and live music.

In the Tetris Tournament, open to everyone, interested participants can register for free by sending an email to poligono@ipn.mx. Winners will receive surprise prizes and an official recognition.

The specialized conferences will be conducted by experts in technology and gamer culture, who will discuss topics such as video game accessibility, the presence of gamer culture in Mexican science fiction, the future of virtual worlds, and video game production.

Additionally, attendees can enjoy immersive interactive experiences in the Virtual Reality Zone, as well as film screenings of 'Ready Player One' and 'Tetris: From Russia With Love' to explore the history and cultural influence of video games.

Live music will be provided by DJN Rowitech, who will offer an 8 Bits music concert accompanied by visuals from VJ Mahavigan.

The Gamer Festival Polygon 2024 will take place on November 6, 7, and 8 at the Jaime Torres Bodet Cultural Center, located at Av. Wilfrido Massieu s/n, Nueva Industrial Vallejo neighborhood, Gustavo A. Madero borough. All activities are free. Don't miss it!
