The movie "Wicked" is about to premiere in cinemas in Mexico, generating great anticipation since it was announced. The story, based in the same world as "The Wizard of Oz," immerses us in the adventures of Elphaba, a misunderstood witch due to her green skin tone, who discovers her powers and meets Glinda, a popular and ambitious young woman. They both form a friendship at Shiz University, in the Land of Oz, but eventually take different paths with consequences that give life to the origin of the well-known movie "The Wizard of Oz."
The premiere of "Wicked" is scheduled for Thursday, November 21, in cinemas in Mexico, although some venues will have special screenings from the previous day. The main actors leading the cast are Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, among other performers like Jonathan Bailey, Marissa Bode, Ethan Slater, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Keala Settle, Bronwyn James, Bowen Yang, Aaron Teoh, Adam James, and Colin Michael Carmichael.
***Cynthia Erivo, the actress who plays Elphaba, commented about her character: "It is an honor to embody such an iconic figure in a classic like 'Wicked.' Elphaba is a character that evokes empathy and teaches us about the importance of acceptance and the value of diversity in society"***.
