Maribel Guardia revealed that she had to report her grandson's mother, Imelda Tuñón, to the Attorney General's Office of Justice of Mexico City, due to the mental illness that the young woman suffers from. This decision was made with her grandson's well-being in mind, the result of the relationship between her son Julián Figueroa and Imelda. In the statement she shared, Maribel expressed: "With pain, I communicate that I have found myself with the moral duty to file a complaint against my grandson's mother, with the sole aim of defending his integrity."
The actress and singer emphasized that her main objective is to ensure her grandson's safety, without going into details that could harm Imelda's image. She indicated that she only seeks what is most appropriate according to the determination of the competent authority. Maribel also clarified that, for the moment, she has the child temporarily while the investigation is ongoing and hopes that Imelda can recover so that her son can be in a healthy environment.
In an additional statement, Maribel Guardia insisted that she does not seek to replace her grandson's mother and that she believes children should be with their mothers. She emphasized the need for the child to be cared for by a healthy mother in full use of her faculties. Regarding Imelda's situation, she revealed in a previous interview that she suffers from Paranoid Bipolar Disorder, which she has managed to control with psychiatric support.
Imelda explained that she has lived with this disorder for at least a decade and detailed how it affects her daily life. After the tragic death of Julián, she had to adjust her treatment to maintain emotional stability. The young woman shared that she hopes to reduce the number of pills she takes daily and is in the process of achieving this, although she had to temporarily increase the dosage after the death of her ex-partner.
