Benito Juárez Borough, the Safest in CDMX

In December 2024, a survey was conducted in 91 cities, in which 61.7% of the population over 18 years old considered their locality unsafe, representing a significant increase compared to previous measurements in September of the same year (58.6%) and December 2023 (59.1%).

During this edition of the survey, 22 urban areas registered statistically significant changes compared to September 2024, with 4 showing reductions and 18 presenting increases in the perception of insecurity.

Benito Juárez stood out as the safest borough in Mexico City, maintaining this position for 17 consecutive measurements. Mayor Luis Mendoza attributed these results to the joint work with the Citizen Security Secretariat in implementing the Blindar BJ 360° strategy.

On the other hand, Miguel Hidalgo positioned itself as the second safest borough. Mauricio Tabe, its mayor, highlighted the transformation achieved over more than 3 years since the beginning of his term, thanks to the Blindar MH strategy. They focus on recovering surveillance modules, conducting operations in critical areas, and expanding the coverage of surveillance cameras, aiming to become the safest borough in the city.

The National Survey on Urban Public Safety (ENSU) for the fourth quarter of 2024, published by INEGI, revealed these data, reflecting the perception of public safety by the population in the main urban areas of the country. Both mayors expressed their commitment to continue working to maintain and improve safety in their jurisdictions.
