The National Meteorological Service (SMN) has published a report predicting variable weather in the Mexico Valley region, with possible isolated rains and thunderstorms on February 15, 2025.
According to the forecast, by morning, the sky is expected to be partially cloudy and the environment will be cool to mild in Mexico City and the State of Mexico. A low-pressure channel over the center of the country, combined with the influx of moisture from the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, will bring rains with intervals of showers and thunderstorms in several regions, including Mexico City and the State of Mexico, as well as Puebla and Morelos. Isolated rains are also anticipated in nearby states such as Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, and Tlaxcala.
The SMN recommends staying alert for weather updates throughout the day due to these unstable conditions. In the morning of February 15, a partially cloudy sky with a cold to cool atmosphere is expected, especially in the high areas of the State of Mexico. Temperatures could drop between -5 and 0 °C in that region, in addition to mist in various areas.
In the afternoon, warmer weather is anticipated, with a partly cloudy to cloudy sky. In the State of Mexico, intervals of showers are expected with accumulations between 5 and 25 mm in 24 hours, while in Mexico City, isolated rains with accumulations between 0.1 and 5 mm in 24 hours, accompanied by thunderstorms, are forecasted.
Regarding temperatures, the maximum in Mexico City is expected to range from 23 to 25 °C, while the minimum will be between 10 and 12 °C. Strong gusts of wind are predicted, with speeds of up to 45 km/h, which could generate dust storms, especially in central areas of the country.
On the other hand, a warmer environment is anticipated in the afternoon of February 13, with partially cloudy skies and the probability of shower intervals in the State of Mexico, accumulating between 5 and 25 mm of rain. A precautionary recommendation is issued for these conditions, which could affect visibility and vehicular circulation.
The SMN calls on the population to stay informed and take the necessary precautions against rains, possible thunderstorms, and wind gusts, which could cause a notable contrast in weather between morning and afternoon. It is recommended to keep an eye on announcements and alerts issued throughout the day to avoid inconveniences due to weather conditions.
