The Head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, was present in the Magdalena Contreras municipality to launch the executive program of Cablebús and announce projects aimed at improving the living conditions of residents in the higher areas of the district.
Brugada Molina emphasized improving access to water, particularly in the Tierra Unida neighborhood, committing to guarantee a regular supply of the vital liquid in the area. One of the first actions will be the rehabilitation of the "Río Magdalena 1" Water Treatment Plant, with an investment of 12 million pesos to increase its production capacity to 250 liters per second. Additionally, 120 million pesos will be allocated to improve hydraulic infrastructure, including pumping and distribution systems.
Regarding the extension of the Cablebús to Magdalena Contreras, Brugada highlighted its importance as an ecological means of transportation that will improve connectivity of the high areas with the rest of the city. With a two-year investment, the project will offer a quick and efficient mobility solution, allowing residents access to quality public transport. Studies to define the stations and the route are ongoing, with construction of the system starting this year.
Furthermore, the local leader presented the "Utopías" project, which aims to transform public space for the benefit of the Magdalena Contreras community. This project includes the opening of a Utopía in the municipality, which will offer general, pediatric, gynecological, and nutritional medical services, as well as a free clinical lab and a mammography machine for breast cancer examinations. A Day Center for Senior Adults will also be established, promoting social interaction and skill development in this segment of the population.
