The Hoy No Circula Program establishes measures applicable to vehicle circulation with the aim of preventing, minimizing, and controlling the emission of pollutants in the Megalopolis, Mexico City, and the State of Mexico. This measure seeks to limit the circulation of private vehicles regardless of the origin of the plates or registration.
Vehicles that cannot circulate this Monday are those with yellow stickers, plate endings 5 and 6, and verification holograms 1 and 2. Conversely, vehicles that can circulate without any restrictions are those with holograms 0 and 00, electric vehicles, hybrids, driven by healthcare personnel, motorcycles, and vehicles with disabled plates.
The Hoy No Circula schedule runs from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Those who do not comply with the program’s rules may face fines ranging from 2,075 to 3,112 pesos.
The only day in which the Hoy No Circula does not apply to any vehicle is Sunday, exempting them from any type of restriction. The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis can enact the suspension of the program and a double Hoy No Circula as an exception.
