The National Meteorological Service (SMN) has published its forecast for February 19, 2025, in the Valley of Mexico, warning about the presence of unstable weather that will cause showers and heavy localized rains, mainly in the central entities of the country. A cool environment is expected in the region during the morning, with a partly cloudy sky, changing to a warm environment in the afternoon with a cloudy sky, which will lead to rains and showers in the State of Mexico, with estimated precipitation between 5 and 25 mm over a 24-hour period.
In Mexico City, isolated rains with accumulations of less than 5 mm are forecasted for the same time frame. These rains may be accompanied by electrical discharges, posing a risk especially for more exposed areas. Regarding temperatures, it is estimated that in Mexico City the maximum will reach between 21 and 23°C, while the minimum will fluctuate between 10 and 12°C, so caution is advised regarding thermal variations.
East and southeast winds are forecasted with speeds of 10 to 25 km/h and gusts of up to 45 km/h, which can cause discomfort, especially in elevated areas. Given this scenario, the SMN recommends that the population remain attentive to weather changes, especially in areas where heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected.
The anticipated climatic instability is due to a low-pressure channel affecting the interior of the country, along with humidity from the Pacific Ocean and instability at high atmospheric levels. The importance of taking precautions is emphasized, such as avoiding areas that may flood and staying informed through official sources to ensure the safety of the population.
