Vehicle Restrictions in CDMX this Saturday

This weekend in Mexico City, the Hoy No Circula program will be applied again. The affected areas will be Atizapán de Zaragoza, Ixtapaluca, Coacalco de Berriozábal, La Paz, Cuautitlán, Naucalpan de Juárez, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Nezahualcóyotl, Chalco, Nicolás Romero, Chimalhuacán, Tecámac, Chicoloapan, Tlalnepantla de Baz, Ecatepec de Morelos, Tultitlán, Huixquilucan, and Valle de Chalco.

Regarding the restrictions, on Saturday, February 22, vehicles with plates ending in even numbers (2, 4, 6, 8, and 0) with hologram 1 will not be able to circulate. Likewise, Hoy No Circula applies to cars with hologram 2 and those foreign vehicles.

However, there are exceptions to this rule. Vehicles with holograms 0 and 00 are exempt from the restriction, as well as cars of healthcare workers, ambulances, and vehicles for people with disabilities that have the corresponding permit.

On this occasion, no environmental contingency has been declared for Saturday, so there will be no double Hoy No Circula. This program is implemented only in case of environmental contingency with the aim of reducing pollution and improving air quality in the Mexico Valley Metropolitan Area.

It is important to remember that Hoy No Circula is a measure to reduce the emission of pollutant particles, and it is applied in the 16 boroughs of Mexico City and in 18 municipalities of the State of Mexico belonging to the Mexico Valley Metropolitan Area.
