The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City reported that capital agents rescued 27 migrants who were being held captive in a hotel in the Centro neighborhood of the Cuauhtémoc borough. The head of the SSC, Pablo Vázquez, announced that the incident took place last Friday after receiving a distress call at the tourist assistance center.

In a press conference, the chief of the capital police mentioned that a man alerted the authorities about his situation and that of other migrants detained in the hotel. In response, the Tourist Police officers went to the location and found the migrants in alarming conditions.

Among those rescued were 25 people from India, one woman from Nepal, and one man from El Salvador. The latter told the police officers that they had been at the site for about 15 days and were not allowed to leave. During the operation, authorities arrested three individuals: a 53-year-old woman who claimed to be the owner of the place, and two men aged 29 and 23 who were identified by the complainants. One of the detainees had a replica firearm confiscated.

The migrants were attended to by paramedics due to nervous crises and other minor issues, and 20 cell phones and several personal documents were also recovered. After the rescue, the migrants were transferred to facilities where they would receive assistance and guidance regarding their legal situation.
