Javier Hidalgo Ponce, head of the Community Education Subsystem Pilares of the Government of Mexico City, made his thigh cancer diagnosis public. He was diagnosed with a high-grade sarcoma, a type of aggressive but treatable cancer. Hidalgo stated he will begin treatment next week and committed to continue leading the 300 Points of Innovation, Freedom, Art, Education, and Knowledge (Pilares), both in person and remotely.
In a meeting with his team, Javier Hidalgo explained that despite the illness, he will move forward with the project they have strongly promoted, asking for support to face this challenge together. Although cancer will affect his participation in the Pilares of Mexico City, he expressed determination to overcome his personal challenge without abandoning the collective effort.
Thigh cancer, known as soft tissue sarcoma, is uncommon and begins with the proliferation of cells in the body's soft tissue. This type of cancer can appear in various areas of the body, with sarcomas being most common in arms and legs.
Javier Hidalgo openly shared his diagnosis with the intention of maintaining transparency and commitment with his team. Despite the difficulties he will face due to treatment, he showed optimism and determination to tackle both his personal challenge and continue leading the Pilares of Mexico City.
