The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (CAMe) has reported that Phase 1 of the environmental contingency for ozone in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico continues. It is noted that atmospheric stability and weak winds persist, which favor the formation and accumulation of ozone, predicting that for the rest of the afternoon, air quality will be in the range of Bad to Very Bad due to this pollutant.
According to data from the air quality monitoring system of Mexico City, the presence of a high-pressure system over the central part of the national territory is generating atmospheric stability and weak winds over the Valley of Mexico, conditions conducive to the generation of ozone. As a result, it is forecasted that air quality will remain at levels of Bad to Very Bad for the rest of the afternoon due to this pollutant.
Regarding the evolution of the situation, it is expected that this Thursday at 8:00 PM, or earlier if conditions improve significantly, CAMe will issue a new report on the air status in the region of the Valley of Mexico.
