The coordinator of the PAN Bench, Andrés Atayde, pointed out that allowing the regular use of cell phones in schools can improve concentration, learning, and protect students from the dangers of the digital world. He emphasized that the lack of restrictions on technology use in the school environment can affect direct social relationships, replacing them with individual activities and putting minors in risky situations.

Atayde mentioned that experiences in countries like Belgium, Spain, and the United Kingdom, where cell phone use has been banned in schools, have shown an improvement in learning outcomes. He stressed that technology should be used in the classroom solely as a support for learning, as excessive use can be harmful, distract students, and affect social interaction.

In this regard, Deputy Laura Álvarez presented an initiative in the Congress of Mexico City to prohibit the use of cell phones in primary and secondary schools. The proposal aims to improve learning conditions by limiting the use of electronic devices in classrooms, allowing them only for pedagogical purposes and under supervision.

Studies support this measure, as the use of cell phones in class has been shown to reduce concentration and affect students' academic performance. Organizations like UNESCO and WHO have warned about the risks of excessive screen use in minors, negatively impacting their emotional and social development.

Internationally, experiences in countries like France and China have shown that banning cell phones in schools improves academic performance and strengthens coexistence among students. In Mexico, states like Coahuila and San Luis Potosí have already implemented similar regulations with positive results.

The initiative to regulate cell phone use in educational institutions aims to protect minors and promote a school environment conducive to learning. From the PAN, there is work being done for the safety and protection of children, ensuring responsible technology use in the educational field.
