A man arrived at a place and opened fire on three people, killing one and injuring two. Among them was Jorge, who suffered a polyfracture in his knee and subsequently developed thrombosis that led to the amputation of his leg. Now, Jorge faces learning to live with a new reality after the tragic incident that completely changed his life.
Jorge has expressed concern over possible medical negligence at the Magdalena de las Salinas Hospital of IMSS, claiming that this situation led him to lose his limb. Additionally, he has pointed out the indifferent treatment from city authorities towards his case, not receiving adequate support or follow-up from them since the beginning. He even had to pay a bill of more than 20 thousand pesos for a private hospital to which he was initially transferred.
Despite these difficulties, Jorge has chosen to focus on his recovery process. He recounts the moment he felt the warmth of his wounded leg and realized he was bleeding after the shooting in which he was injured. His quick reaction to apply a tourniquet saved his life while waiting for medical assistance.
The incident took place during a shootout at a motorcycle workshop in Mexico City. Jorge, 31 years old, found himself caught in the crossfire while walking through the streets of the Narvarte neighborhood. Despite leading a normal life as a department head at a call center, he is now in the process of adapting to his new reality after the amputation of his right leg, a process he expects to be long and costly. For this reason, he has launched a fundraising campaign to cover medical expenses and acquire a prosthesis that will allow him to move forward.
