Yellow Alert for Temperature Changes in CDMX

Amid the high temperatures that have affected Mexico City, the Secretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) of the capital has issued a yellow alert due to forecasts of low temperatures expected in the boroughs of Tlalpan and Milpa Alta. According to the forecast, temperatures are expected to range between 4 and 6 degrees in these areas between 4:00 AM and 8:00 AM.

In light of this situation, the SGIRPC has recommended that residents of these boroughs take precautions such as avoiding sudden temperature changes, dressing adequately, covering the nose and mouth, consuming foods rich in vitamins A and C, staying hydrated, and, in case of respiratory discomfort, consulting a doctor.

These temperatures contrast with the heat experienced during the afternoon of Wednesday in the capital, where not only high temperatures were recorded, but also extremely high UV radiation indices. For this reason, the population is advised to use sun protection on all skin types, apply a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30+, wear long-sleeved cotton clothing, use hats and UV-protective glasses, avoid direct exposure to the sun, and engage in outdoor activities in shaded areas, as well as to take extra precautions with the elderly and children.

In summary, it is important to follow these recommendations and stay informed to protect health and prevent potential risks associated with adverse weather conditions.
