Isabel Miranda de Wallace, founder of Alto al Secuestro, passed away at the ABC Hospital in Santa Fe, according to unofficial reports. The news of her death was shared by the former head of government of Mexico City, Miguel Ángel Mancera, who expressed his condolences on social media.

Miranda de Wallace stood out in Mexico for her tireless fight for justice for her son, Hugo Alberto Wallace Miranda, who disappeared after being kidnapped in 2005. After a lack of progress from the authorities, Isabel started her own investigation, which led to the capture of the alleged perpetrators of the kidnapping.

Over the years, Isabel Miranda de Wallace faced criticism and distrust, including accusations of simulating her son's disappearance. Despite this, in 2010 she was awarded the National Human Rights Prize by then-president Felipe Calderón.

However, the case of her son's disappearance has been controversial. Journalist Guadalupe Lizárraga published investigations that highlighted inconsistencies in the case, questioning the official version. Furthermore, data was revealed suggesting that Hugo Alberto Miranda Flores, her son's alias, had another identity.

Isabel Miranda de Wallace maintained a close relationship with former president Calderón and in 2012 was a candidate for the head of government of the Federal District from the National Action Party. Over the years, her work related to cases of missing persons made her a public figure in Mexico.

In 2019, Miranda Torres requested President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to delve into the investigation regarding her son's disappearance. Despite the controversies and criticisms, Miranda de Wallace was recognized for her activism and dedication in the fight against kidnapping in the country.
