Air Quality Improves in Mexico City

Air quality in Mexico City and the State of Mexico has improved by 4:00 PM according to the latest weather report. Although only 4 stations register high ozone levels, the station at FES Aragón is highlighted in green, indicating low contamination, almost ruling out the possibility of an environmental contingency.

On the other hand, at 2:00 PM, high levels of pollution were observed. The weather forecast for April 20 indicates that intense heat is expected in Mexico City, with a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius. Additionally, a very hot environment is forecast, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and high UV radiation levels for the afternoon.

The authorities also reported that gusts of wind could help avoid the Double Hoy No Circula and the arrival of vacationers since Holy Week, which increases traffic on the roads. Poor air quality, attributed to traffic and car use, has been a persistent problem in both areas.

It is expected that winds from the south and southwest will help disperse pollution levels, especially ozone and PM2.5 particles. Although 9 monitoring stations show concerning conditions, the yellow alert remains active due to the winds forecasted for the afternoon.

In summary, current conditions show an improvement in air quality, although vigilance remains due to ongoing pollution levels.
