The Secretariat of Comprehensive Water Management (SEGIAGUA) communicated that a leak in a 60-inch line of the Teoloyucan Branch, operated by the Basin Organization Aguas del Valle de México (OCAVM), has caused a 50% reduction in the water supply to the Chalmita tanks. This situation will lead to low pressure and less availability of drinking water in various areas of Mexico City, mainly in the western part of the Gustavo A. Madero borough, eastern Azcapotzalco, northern Venustiano Carranza, and northeastern Cuauhtémoc.
The necessary repairs are estimated to be completed within 48 hours, so the restoration of the service is expected to be gradual starting in the afternoon of Friday, April 25. During this period, SEGIAGUA has made available to citizens the H2O Line (*426) to request the support of water trucks at no cost in case of emergency.
"Authorities continue to urge residents of the affected areas to take precautions and to use water resources responsibly," they indicated.
